Crescent Plastics Sustainability Initiative

As a planet, we produce millions of tons of plastic every year, leading to higher carbon emissions and millions of tons of plastic waste in landfills. Contrary to the world’s rate of plastic production, plastic is one of the most recyclable materials on the planet. Taking advantage of this recyclability and reusing previous plastic products to create new products benefits, not just the earth, but the economics of your company as well.

As part of Crescent Plastics sustainability initiative, we are now extruding Post-Consumer Recyclable (PCR) material.  We are working to create a sustainable future by using post-consumer HDPE in our process to make new industrial products.  These new products reuse HDPE detergent and fabric softener bottles to create new industrial products. The HDPE bottles are reprocessed into plastic pellets by a converter, and at Crescent Plastics we turn them into new products.

Sustainability in Plastics

Though different kinds of plastic degrade at different rates, plastic can take hundreds, even thousands of years to biodegrade. By using recycled plastic to create new products, Crescent Plastics is creating a more sustainable product that will have many long-term benefits for the environment.

Environmental Impact:

By reusing HDPE detergent and fabric softener bottles to create a new project, we are reducing the amount of plastic waste that would end up in a landfill. Using recycled materials also reduces the amount of energy it takes to manufacture a product.

Post-Consumer HDPE Extrusion

Cost Effective:

Extruding post-consumer recyclable material is also a cost-effective extrusion process. Reducing waste and using fewer materials lowers the cost of manufacturing, resulting in cost savings for the customers as well.

Reduction in Waste:

Reducing landfill waste by reusing plastic materials reduces our overall carbon footprint. For every 40,000 pound truck of PCR material that Crescent Plastics purchases, it eliminates 420,000 detergent bottles from the landfill. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, using recycled plastics produces 25% less greenhouse gas emissions.

Recycled Plastic Benefits

By utilizing PCR material in your products, you can build strong brand loyalty. Consumers care about whether a business is being socially responsible and place a great deal of importance in environmentally-friendly business practices.

Sustainable Thermoplastic Extrusions

Using recycled plastic to create new products also:

  • Lowers the cost of materials
  • Prepares your company to comply with future regulations
  • Contributes to improving the planet

Post-Consumer Recycled material can meet:

  • CONEG Compliant
  • ROHS Compliant
  • Reach SVHC Compliant
  • FMVSS302 Flammability
